800A – So Many Wonderful People is my latest work: A portrait of the open stage & music scene of 800A, a bar & cabaret in Berlin-Wedding. The focus was to get the feel of being part of their community across. I collected material from several evenings at the bar and developed an interview approach for my three protagonists bar owner Fabio La Fata, veteran of the local scene Conor Kilkelly, and newcomer Clara Spelsberg in the process. My roles in this production: creative concept, camera work & interviews, video & audio editing.

These Are The Parts is a music video for my singer-songwriter alter ego The Night Gardener. Made completely from free-use stock footage, it focuses on telling a story of healing the inner child. Deliberate cuts to black here, to break viewer expectations and allow moments of contemplation. My roles in this production: Songwriter, singer, instrumentalist, recording & mixing engineer, cutter.

Poison In My Cup. Another The Night Gardener music video, and this time it’s me in front of the camera, with Michael Klich directing and shooting. An acting exercise in slow escalation, with the video ending just before it happens – tension is often more interesting than the actual climax. I’m no trained actor, but it’s good to know the other side. My roles in this production: Songwriter, singer, instrumentalist, recording & mixing engineer, actor, cutter.

Modern Plays and In My Wake are two music videos created from a single video shoot. Director Michael Klich and I conceptualized over several meetings, organized the cast and then filmed all the material we needed in under four hours in Volkspark Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin – clipboards of drill instructions in our hands. We didn’t plan for two stories about loss and identity, but when we looked at what we had filmed, we knew this was the task ahead. My roles in this production: Songwriter, singer, instrumentalist, recording & mixing engineer, co-director, production assistant.
